Double nomination for South West firm

Release date: 11/04/2013

A South West firm, founded 110 years ago, has been short-listed for two national awards in the prestigious ‘Oscars’ of the tax profession. A.C.Mole & Sons is in the running for the 2013 LexisNexis Taxation Award for best single office tax practice, an accolade the firm first won in 2004. Tax partner Paul Aplin is nominated for the best tax writer award.

Managing partner Steve Golby said: “We have built a national reputation for tax over recent years and have won the best tax team award before – being shortlisted again shows that we are keeping our edge in an ever more competitive market.”
Paul Aplin, who is chairman of the influential Tax Faculty technical committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, broadcasts regularly and writes for a number of taxation and accountancy journals. He tweets at @PaulAplinOnTax.
Paul was named Tax Personality of the Year in the 2007 awards for the part he played in persuading the government to reverse its decision to shorten the tax return filing deadlines. He was awarded an OBE in 2009 for public service and services to the accountancy profession.
Paul commented: “The challenge in writing about tax is to demystify some very complex issues – that is often easier said than done.”
This year's award ceremony will be held on Thursday 23 May at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel, London, attended by around 700 guests.
