On 9th April the Chancellor announced £750 million of funding for frontline charities. Full details have not been released but we understand that;
- £370m of funding will be available to small and medium sized local charities dealing with vulnerable people. This is designed to support charities delivering food, essential medicines and providing financial advice. This support will be provided through organisations like the National Lottery Communities Fund and the grant scheme is expected to be operational in the coming weeks.
- Government Departments will allocate a further £360m of direct cash grants to charities providing essential services and supporting vulnerable people. These grants will support hospices, organisations like St John’s Ambulance, charities supporting vulnerable children, and victims’ charities including domestic abuse. Government Departments are working to identify priority recipients, with the aim of these grants being paid in the coming weeks.
