With Christmas fast approaching, we wanted our December pledge to be something that could get us in the mood for the festive season and be community focused in equal measure. We also wanted to do something that could be of interest to one of our many clients, a way for them to get involved in our celebrations and for us to also provide something for them in return.

As such we decided what better way to achieve this at this time of year than to dust off our vocal chords and pledge to take part in Christmas caroling for a total of 120 minutes. When it came to considering who would get the most enjoyment out of our performance (be that through listening or joining in), we decided we would approach two of our long term clients who provide care for the elderly and disabled within residential based settings.

Abbeyfield (Somerset) Society Residential Home is a purpose built care home with lovely surrounding gardens based in Taunton, that provides residential care, as well as dementia care and day care. The staff at Abbeyfield support their residents in making decisions about how they want to live and throughout they recognise the importance of family and friend relationships, as well as pursuing hobbies and interests by offering a variety of activities.

Chelston Park Nursing and Residential Home is a period property that has been modernised for purpose, with an accessible garden overlooking the Blackdown Hills based in Wellington, that provides nursing and residential care. The staff at Chelston Park support the residents in their care to get the best out of every day, offering personalised nursing care and giving them choices about how they want to live. They also have an activities team who work alongside the care assistants and nurses, to provide experiences for the residents to keep them engaged and active.

Paula on behalf of Abbeyfield (Somerset) Society said, “Having celebrated a long and reliable relationship with A C Mole, we are really looking forward to welcoming some of their team to provide our lovely residents with Christmas Carols and cheer this year. It is so lovely that they are sharing their musical talents with us, our residents will be joining in!“.

Susan, Jo and Richard on behalf of Chelston Park said, “Music can have such a magical effect, especially at Christmas, helping us all remember the sense of community and how sharing the simple things can make this time of year special. I hope A C Mole are prepared for the people who work and live at Chelston to join in and we thank them in advance for coming to do this for us“.
