In the ever-changing pace of the working world, it is more and more important within all workplace sectors to offer the next generation a variety of different routes to learn the skills and attributes that will underpin their careers throughout the rest of their life.
It is of no surprise, then, that many young people are now choosing the route of apprenticeships, as they provide the perfect combination of practical working and theoretical learning. Apprenticeships enable students of varying ages to find their own feet within the workplace, begin to build relationships with different people from whom they learn and hone newly acquired skills.
Harry began his journey here at A C Mole in September 2023 after previously spending nearly 4 years running a shop and a bar at a local brewery. It was only after a conversation with the finance admin that he thought about giving accountancy a go, and with that, he began his AAT level 2 with an online training provider, and eventually joined A C Mole to continue his studies and properly kick start his career in accountancy. Harry is currently working through his AAT level 3 and plans to start level 4 later this year. Harry’s main job role involves drafting accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and managing agents, but is also gaining experience in tax and payroll. He finds that actual work experience is having a positive effect on his studies: “Being able to relate the work I do in the office back to my studies with Accountancy Learning is really beneficial, as it makes learning content a lot easier as you cover it on a daily basis.”
Sarah Twist, Associate Partner and AAT Training co-ordinator said, “We have offered students training through apprenticeship for a number of years now and we have found it to be a productive and effective way to nurture our students and provide them with both practical work experience and training in a supportive environment. Harry is a great member of our team and it’s been great to see him progress in both his studies and own personal development”
